Work begins on four new GLHS classrooms

In early April, work began on four new classrooms at Grand Ledge High School. Construction fencing has been installed around the work area at the northeast (NE) end of the building. To help with displaced foot traffic, a temporary limestone walkway is now in place. The two doors at the NE end of the building are designated for "emergency only" use.

The two canopies over those doorways were removed and brick demolished. Plans for the work have centered upon not disrupting instruction. Noisy activity involved with bringing down brick and steel in the canopies at the NE entrances was accomplished during the spring break week.

Foundation work for the four new classrooms will begin sometime after spring break with most of the construction planned for the summer when students are not in session. The north side drive adjacent to the addition will be widened and will have a temporary base of limestone. The drive will remain in use until the end of the school year. For safety, construction activities after spring break will be coordinated with the bus schedules for dropping off and picking up students.

Delta Center security fencing installed

Security fencing has gone up around the area where the two new classrooms will be built. The play structure will be carefully moved and preserved for reinstallation later.
